Hi,

I'm a American ex-pat spouse of someone working in Almaty, Kazakhstan and this blog is intended to be a log of my family and my experiences of the 2-4 years we will be spending in Kazakhstan.  Most of our time will be spent in Almaty, but we plan on travelling throughout Kazakhstan and the region as much as possible.

What this blog is intended to be:
This blog will include:

• Observations and thoughts on what we see, hear, smell, and feel
• Humorous (at least to me) anecdotes and impressions
• Pictures of our travels throughout the region
• Thoughts on US sports and occasionally Premiership and Champions League Football when there isn't a lot going on in Almaty
• Random thoughts from me

This blog is not facebook or Google + and will not include the following:

• Pictures of me or my family - those will be only on facebook or any number of other protected web-sites
• Discussions of politics - either regional or US - since they both bore me for the most part
• A place for me to express any frustrations with life - anyone who stumbles on this site really won't care and I'm not one to bitch to people I don't know :-)

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the posts and I will try to post often.  I've only been in Almaty a short period of time (about 2 weeks as of this writing) and thus far I've been very impressed with the city and am looking forward to getting to see more of the area.
